We are inspired every day by women who are changing their communities for the better – women like Adhele in South Sudan.
Adhele knows the devastating effects of hunger all too well: she nearly lost her son Piol to severe malnutrition. Fortunately, with our help, he recovered at one of our nutrition centers. Once he was better, more work for Adhele began. She returned home with a mission to prevent hunger in her family and community.
Her hard work is paying off. Today, in addition to being a mother, Adhele is learning new farming techniques through our Kitchen Garden project, and she serves on her village’s water committee. She’s improving nutrition and hygiene in her community while shifting long-held beliefs about the roles women play – and how they can drive change.
